Who is this phone for?
The Huawei Mate XT is NOT a phone for the masses. It is built for:
- The Executive Power User: If you review spreadsheets and long documents on the fly, this 10-inch canvas is unmatched.
- The Luxury Collector: For those who buy the Rolex or Ferrari of tech—it is the ultimate conversation starter.
- The Satellite Nomad: Hikers or travelers who need satellite connectivity in a form factor that isn't a bulky military radio.
The TEAM BOS Verdict
The Mate XT is a masterpiece of engineering but a nightmare of practicality. In Pakistan, the massive PTA tax and lack of official warranty make this a very risky "high-end toy." Unless you strictly need a tablet in your pocket, wait for the second generation.
Team BOS does not accept "review units" or sponsorship from brands like Huawei or Samsung. We analyze devices based on real-world market value, Pakistani tax realities (FBR/PTA), and technical longevity. If a phone is overpriced or lacks Google support, we say it clearly—no matter how famous the brand is.
As of March 2026, the estimated PTA tax for the Mate XT is Rs. 148,000 (on Passport) and approx. Rs. 185,000 (on CNIC). Since it is a high-value luxury device, it falls into the highest tax bracket.
Natively, no. However, 2026 workarounds like GBox or MicroG allow you to run YouTube, Maps, and WhatsApp perfectly. Note that Google Wallet (NFC payments) usually remains unsupported.
In full tablet mode, the 5600mAh battery drains significantly faster. You can expect about 4 to 5 hours of continuous screen-on time. In single-screen mode, it can easily last a full day.
Yes. Because it uses a flexible plastic-based composite screen, it is a Level 2/3 on the Mohs scale. Hard fingernail pressure or sharp objects can leave permanent marks. Extreme care is advised.
Ruihong is the signature "Commemorative Red" vegan leather with gold trim, while Xuanhei is the "Deep Black" version. Both feature the same internal specs and Kirin 9010 chipset.
Yes, the Mate XT is fully compatible with the 5G frequency bands currently being tested in Pakistan. It also supports VoLTE and VoWiFi on all local networks.
Satellite calling requires a specific carrier subscription (Tiantong). Currently, this is only officially supported in China. In Pakistan, you would likely only be able to use standard GSM/5G services.
No. The Mate XT does not have an official IP68 water resistance rating due to the complexity of the dual-hinge tri-fold design. Keep it away from rain and dust.
It is a physical variable aperture (f/1.4 to f/4.0). You can actually see the camera blades opening and closing to control background blur (bokeh) and light—exclusive to Huawei's XMAGE system.
There is no official Huawei warranty for this model in Pakistan. Repairs are extremely difficult and expensive (approx. Rs. 2.5 Lac for a screen). Only specialized premium labs can handle the tri-fold repair.
